In a previous post, I shared some tips on the things to look out for when choosing a graphics design app. In that post, I asked if you’d like me to tell you the top five canva alternatives for your social media graphics design and most of you wanted it. So, here it is:

Just like there are numerous apps which you can use to edit videos, pictures etc, graphics design also has countless applications that you can use. Right now, the most popular of them all is canva. Everyone who is involved in content creation or marketing on social media is using it. There’s no doubt that you’ve heard about it before or even seen it. But did you know that there are other apps at your disposal asides Canva?

Here are five other design apps that you’ll love:

1) DESYGNER

Desygner is a free design app that offers extremely beautiful, professional pre-installed templates.

Unlike Canva where anyone can sign up to and start creating graphics, Desygner is most suitable for social media marketers, bloggers and those who already have a little experience in designing. The app is not entirely free. You’ll have to upgrade to their premium and business plans to get access to more of their features. It’s perfect for designing on your mobile phone and can be accessed on web, iOS and android.

2)  PABLO BY BUFFER

This application was developed by buffer to give their customers more value from the site. The first thing that makes Pablo interesting is that you can use it whether you have a buffer account or not.

Just like one of the tips I shared on how to choose the right design app, it is fast. It also makes it very easy for you to share your designs directly on your social media platforms. The only thing I don’t find interesting about it is that it’s web-based ‘only’ but it’s absolutely free! Check it out and let me know what you think.

3)   ADOBE SPARK

If you’re a minimalist then this one is for you.

Adobe Spark is a minimalist design app that uses a lot of custom, modern designs. It’s also available on web and iOS but still new to android. It has one big disadvantage (well, from my point of view) which is that it runs a free trial for a limited time after which you will have to subscribe to their service for $9.99 (N3700 approx.)

4)   SNAPPA

This one here is a cloud-based design software. Just like the others listed above, Snappa is a great alternative to Photoshop and CorelDraw. It is really fast and requires no previous editing training. Guess what?

It it has a large database of custom images similar to stock images which is known as stocksnap. This library of images is 100% free. Isn’t that amazing now…… It also comes with premium plans starting from $10 to $20 dollars monthly which I think is one the high side tho.

The major disadvantage Snappa has is that it can’t be accessed on mobile devices since its ‘cloud-based’. It also doesn’t come with pre-installed templates which means you’ll be designing from the scratch. Despite all this, I personally think it’s perfect for small and large businesses and freelances.

5)   GRAVIT

Do you want to know why I reserved this one to the last? Well, just take a look at the image below:

Does that look scary?

Well, Gravit is a very powerful design software that offers free advanced tools and features. It supports Windows, Linux, Mac and is web-based. GRAVIT is totally FREE. Personally I think that this software is the most complicated of all the design apps and softwares that I’ve ever seen (included the ones listed above). The image above alone looks likes one has to be skilled in algebra and physics to be a ble to work with it. It would require a previous knowledge of CorelDraw or Photoshop.

P.s:  It is not as complicated as CorelDraw or Photoshop but isn’t also as flexible as you would ordinarily expect. It’s amazing for social media and business designs.

So there you go, have fun trying them out and let me know what you think.

If you know any other apps, please share with me and other AGJ readers below. I’d love to hear from you.
